European Junior Curling Tour-Inverness 2008
Inverness Ice Centre hosted a very successful 2nd competition of the new European Junior Curling Tour from 14th-16th November. There were 12 boys teams in 2 sections of 6 and the girls just had 10 teams so all played 5 games.
Inverness Ice Rink had volunteers transporting the teams from the station and airport and to and from the Columba Hotel and the rink. The volunteers put on a great selection of hot and cold food throughout the weekend. The teams were given food vouchers and had a meal on the Saturday night.
It was a close fought competition with 2 Scottish teams fighting out the girls final with Hannah Fleming coming out on top. The boys final saw Scotland meet Sweden but the winner in Oslo became triumphant again, Sweden skipped by Kristian Lindstom
The session times were 8 ends or the bell and it was felt that time outs were not required when not playing 10 ends.
Thanks must go to Innes Rankin from Inverness and all his helpers and volunteers for all the hard work they put in to this very successful weekend. The feedback from the athletes was very positive.
